My New Year’s Prayer

The fireworks are dying down and I’m getting ready for bed.  We had a nice game of Triple Yahtzee at the neighbors’ house and most of the guests made it until midnight.  No resolutions for me, just another year and another post on the blog, so here is my new year’s prayer.

Heavenly Father,
We stand before you at the threshold of a new year and ask you to forgive us for the things we should not have done but did, and the things we didn’t do but should have.  Thank you for another year, another chance to grow closer to you, to understand your word and to get to know you better.  We ask that you take care of our earthly needs, settle things that distract us, like the crisis in the economy and the fighting in Gaza and help us focus on becoming more like your son, Jesus Christ.  We know that you will provide for us all the things we need but not everything we want because you know what is best for us.  You tell us that “God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God” so please give us faith to believe that when we don’t understand why things happen.  Please bless everyone, everywhere in Jesus name.
Amen
